For standard 1-inch filters, every 1-3 months — monthly if you have pets or allergies. Thicker 4-5 inch media filters can go 6-12 months. A clogged filter is the #1 cause of avoidable system problems we see, so when in doubt, swap it.
Twice a year: heating in the fall, cooling in the spring. Regular tune-ups catch small problems before they become breakdowns, keep efficiency up, and protect most manufacturer warranties. Our Comfort Club includes both visits automatically.
It depends on the noise. Squealing often means a belt or blower motor issue, banging can be delayed ignition, and rattling may just be a loose panel. None of them improve on their own — a quick diagnostic catches it before parts get damaged.
The most common causes are a dirty filter, low refrigerant from a leak, or a failing capacitor. If the outdoor unit isn't running at all, it may be electrical. Check your filter and breaker first — if those are fine, give us a call.
Our rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than half the price of a new system and your unit is past 10-12 years old, replacement usually wins. But we'll always give you the honest math for your specific situation — sometimes a $300 repair buys you five more good years.
Most residential installs are done in one day. A straightforward furnace or AC swap takes 4-8 hours; full system replacements or mini split installs with multiple zones may take a day and a half.
With regular maintenance: furnaces 15-20 years, air conditioners 12-15 years, heat pumps 10-15 years (they run year-round), and water heaters 8-12 years. Skipping maintenance can cut those numbers significantly.

Always. We diagnose first, then give you a written quote you approve before any work begins. No surprise invoices — it's the foundation of how we've earned a 5.0 rating.
Our membership program: two tune-ups a year, priority scheduling, no diagnostic fees, and 10-30% off repairs, starting at $25/month. Most members save more than the membership costs. See all three plans on the Comfort Club page.
