For standard 1-inch filters, every 1-3 months — monthly with pets or allergies. Thicker 4-5 inch media filters can go 6-12 months. A clogged filter is the #1 cause of avoidable problems we see.
Twice a year: heating in the fall, cooling in the spring. Tune-ups catch small problems early, keep efficiency up, and protect most warranties. Our Comfort Club includes both visits.
Squealing often means a belt or blower motor issue, banging can be delayed ignition, rattling may be a loose panel. None improve on their own — a quick diagnostic catches it early.
Most common: a dirty filter, refrigerant leak, or failing capacitor. Check your filter and breaker first — if those are fine, give us a call.
Our rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than half a new system and your unit is past 10-12 years, replacement usually wins. We'll give you the honest math — sometimes a $300 repair buys five more good years.
Most residential installs are done in one day. A straightforward swap takes 4-8 hours; multi-zone mini split installs may take a day and a half.
With maintenance: furnaces 15-20 years, ACs 12-15, heat pumps 10-15 (they run year-round), water heaters 8-12.
